The new financial year, along with easing of COVID related restrictions, has seen an increase in activity in the Queensland legal market. The areas that are most buoyant currently are insolvency and commercial litigation, workplace relations and employment, family law. Further, we have noted that defendant and plaintiff insurance roles have remained consistent during this time. There are a number of mid-tier law firms looking to hire experienced practitioners with a client following in areas in which they have projected growth in. Law firms have seen this as an opportunity to bolster strong practices in areas where they are seeking future growth. With the junior to mid-level lawyers, we have found that job security has been at the forefront when exploring opportunities. Generally firms that are recruiting at the junior to mid-level have highlighted that such roles are business critical, therefore providing assurance to lawyers in regard to future job security.
